Heading off to London and Paris for the weekend! So rough, we know. Gretl is staying at a pet hotel for this trip.
Took the train to Romanshorn, Switzerland. Then took a ferry to Friedrichshafen, Germany then a train to the airport in Friedrichshafen. From there a plane to England. I think we were trying to use the most types of transportation available.
Train in Friedrichshafen, Germany to take us to the airport.
Yep, we are in London. Woohoo!
The Houses of Parliment building along the Thames River in London, England. Also, referred to as Palace of Westminster or Westminster Palace.
Most would say "Big Ben", but that actually refers to the large bell in the clock tower. The name of this is "The Clock Tower". It is the world's largest chiming four faced clock tower.
Standing on Westminster bridge looking toward the Houses of Parliment.
Big Ben or The Clock Tower. Whichever you prefer.
The Clock Tower and the Houses of Parliment.
Chris on Westminster Bridge along the Thames.
Beyond the Clock Tower you can spy the London Eye.
A courtyard in Westminster Abbey. No pictures are allowed in the Abbey itself.
Architectural detail of some of the spires of Westminster Abbey.
This was our first glimmer of spring, the lovely manicured lawn of the courtyard.
By the beard you can tell Easter has not come yet. Look, double decker buses in the background.
They do exist, like my friend Laurie said they did. I think more for the tourists. We had to wait for another group to take their picture before we got this shot.
Approaching Trafalgar Square.
Yep, Chris gave me a boost to get up here. I am sure a video of me getting up here would be hilarious.
For the work involved getting here, a few pictures were needed.
The outside of Westminster Abbey. The outside does not do justice to the beauty within.
This is what transpires when Chris gets the camera.
This is a wonderful market where many tasty treats abound.
Olives and more olives.
From vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, sandwiches and desserts this is a great place to sample a little of everything.
